What Makes a Good Cash-Secured Put Setup

The scanner looks for five things simultaneously. High IV Rank means options are expensive relative to the stock's own history. An IV/HV ratio above 1.0 means implied volatility exceeds what the stock has actually been doing. A moderate pullback from highs creates a better entry (you're selling puts after the stock already dropped, not at the top). Positive or neutral trend means the stock isn't in a death spiral. And sufficient liquidity means the bid-ask spreads won't eat your premium.

When all five line up, the scanner grades it A or B. That's when the risk/reward is best for selling cash-secured puts. Stocks graded C or D might have one or two things wrong. F-graded stocks have multiple red flags.

How to Use the Screener

Open the scanner and sort by Score (highest first). The top 3-5 stocks are your best candidates. Look at the IV Rank column. Anything above 50 means volatility is elevated. Above 70 is where premium selling gets interesting.
